Due to Kenya’s position on the equator, it has both a rainy and a dry season. The rainy season usually lasts from March until June, and from November until December, whereas the dry season lasts from July until October, and January until February. Every season has its advantages and disadvantages. It is therefore advisable to consider when you want to travel to Kenia. In this article, the advantages and disadvantages are explained, and also how to apply for a Kenya visa.
During the months of January, February, and July until October, it is dry in Kenya. As a result, it is the high season for tourism. It is then difficult to book a last-minute hotel or resort. If you intend to travel during these months, make sure to book everything well in advance and timely apply for your Kenya visa. The dry season is ideal for snorkelling or diving by the coast. It offers a refreshing break from the heat and a wonderful view of the coral reefs. Furthermore, safaris are very popular in the dry season. In February, wild animals gather at water sources, which allows visitors to spot various animals in one place. In July, the wildebeests begin their migration from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara. This migration is spectacular to see and lasts until the end of August.
Apply for the Kenya visa once you know when you will travel to Kenya.
Halfway through March, it will start to rain little by little, resulting in a moist and damp environment. In April, the temperatures lower due to the rains, and many tourists will return home. Because of that, travelling to Kenya during the wet season is quite cheap, but do bring your rain gear then. It will be harder to spot wildlife due to the denser vegetation. Fortunately, there are also sufficient indoor activities to undertake in Kenya, such as different museums like the Nairobi National Museum and the Nairobi Gallery of National Archives, and shopping malls like the Two Rivers Mall or the Mega Plaza Mall. You could also take a road trip through the vast nature with a rental car.
Prepare for the trip
During whichever period you travel to Kenya, it is always advisable to prepare for your trip well in advance. If you intend to travel in the dry season, timely book your tickets and accommodation. If you intend to travel in the rainy season, you can book your trip a little later. Do not forget to apply for the Kenya visa. You can apply for the visa online and well in advance. If you apply for the visa three months before your trip, it will be put on hold. Your visa is validfor three months from the date of approval. Your arrival date in Kenya must be within the validity period of the visa. Your visa then allows you to stay in Kenya for 90 days. Will you manage to spot The Big Five within that time?
