You can cancel your application until the moment you have make the payment. After reception of the payment, e-Visa.ie will process your application almost immediately. There is an exception if your application is still on hold, that is to say, if you will not travel for Cuba before 90 days. Once you have received the number code for your e-visa you will have to fill in the D’Viajeros digital immigration form. You can do this during the 7 days prior to your arrival in Cuba. This is a form provided by the Cuban government that you can open by clicking on the visa code which is displayed on your personal status page. This the visa code will automatically appear in the form, so that your e-visa can be activated. Besides the visa code, you need to fill in some personal data. Furthermore, you need to provide information about your travel plans, your health and the products you want to import.

After you complete the D’Viajeros immigration form, you will receive confirmation email with a pdf file containing a QR code. You need to show this QR code upon arrival in Cuba. This way, the Cuban authorities will verify that you have a valid visa.

Early 2021, the United States added Cuba to the State Sponsors of Terrorism list. As a consequence, travelling to the United States from Cuba is now more complicated. Europeans must be aware that they are no longer eligible for an ESTA to the United States if they were in Cuba after January 11, 2021.

Bear in mind that if you have been to Cuba after January 11, 2021 or you are planning to travel to Cuba in the future, you will not be able to use the ESTA for the United States after that. Therefore, if you want to travel to the USA in the future, you will need to apply for a visa. This requires an interview appointment at the US consulate.
