The NZeTA and the New Zealand visa

Do I need a visa for New Zealand? A visa or NZeTA is always required when travelling to New Zealand. The NZeTA is officially not a visa, but a digital travel authorisation that is required if you want to travel to New Zealand without a visa. You can apply for the NZeTA online. This is the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to meet the visa requirement. If you have Australian or New Zealand nationality, you do not need a visa or NZeTA.

What is the NZeTA New Zealand? NZeTA stands for New Zealand electronic Travel Authority which means that it is an electronic travel authorisation for New Zealand. The NZeTA is mandatory for anyone wishing to travel without a visa. Applying for an NZeTA is a simple process seeing that the application can be completed entirely online. All you need to do is fill in an online application form, pay the fees and upload a digital passport photo. Applying for any other visa for New Zealand is more complicated and comes at a higher cost. This website always refers to the NZeTA when mentioning the New Zealand visa, even though the NZeTA is officially not a visa.

NZeTA New-Zealand cost

NZeTA visa fees
The New Zealand visa that is available on this website costs € 99,95. This is the full price, including all consular fees, service fees and the tourist tax. The New Zealand immigration service charges a tourist tax (IVL) in the amount of NZD 100 per traveller. Barring a few exceptions, all travellers must pay this tax. The tourist tax is included in the visa price, so you do not need to pay it separately.

Period of validity of the NZeTA

The NZeTA is valid for 2 years. These 2 years start on the day the visa is issued. The NZeTA allows you to travel to New Zealand as often as you like within this 2-year validity period. If you have a British passport, each continuous stay may last up to 6 months. If you do not have a British passport, each stay cannot exceed 3 months. You are not allowed to spend more than 6 months in New Zealand in any 12-month period with an NZeTA.

The validity period of the NZeTA can also be less than 2 years under certain circumstances. The NZeTA visa is never valid longer than the passport that was used for the visa application. The reason is that the validity period of the visa is linked to the validity period of the passport. If the passport expires in less than 2 years, the NZeTA will also expire in less than 2 years.

You can also apply for a visa directly with the immigration service (123 NZD per visa, via nzeta.immigration.govt.nz). However, not with our level of support. If you submit your application via e-Visa.ie, our support centre is available to you 24/7. In addition, we manually check your application and all the documents you provide before submitting it to the immigration authorities on your behalf. If we suspect any errors or omissions while doing so, we will personally contact you to ensure that your application can still be processed quickly and correctly. To use our services, you pay us 123 NZD in consular fees, which we pay to the immigration service on your behalf, as well as € 32,37 in service fees as compensation for our services, including VAT. Should an application be rejected despite our support and verification, we will refund the full purchase price (unless an application for a previous New Zealand visa was rejected for the same traveller).
