Myanmar is represented in the UK through the Myanmar Embassy in London. British citizens should contact the Embassy of Myanmar in London for consular matters. However, most people wishing to travel to Myanmar do not need to contact the embassy, since they can easily apply for their Myanmar visa online.

Functions of the Embassy of Myanmar

The Embassy of Myanmar in London not only performs embassy tasks for the United Kingdom, but also for Denmark, Ireland and Sweden. Citizens of these countries who are not eligible for the Myanmar electronic visa can apply for other types of visas at the Embassy of London. There, they can apply for long-stay visas, business visas, study visas, visas for diplomats and their families and staff, visas for flight crews, and lastly for religious purposes, such as the meditation visa. These visas come in different versions, for one or more arrivals in the country, and with different validity periods. The cost of these visas will vary depending on their type and the length of stay. Nonetheless, tourists generally do not need to go to the embassy to apply for their visa, as they can easily submit their application online.

Citizens of Myanmar in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark and Sweden can go to the embassy for consular matters such as applying for an (emergency) passport or extending the validity of travel documents. Besides consular activities, the Embassy also plays a role in the bilateral cooperation and economic relations between the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and Myanmar.

Most times, it is not necessary to visit to the embassy

British, Irish, Danish and Swedish nationals who travel to Myanmar for tourism purposes normally do not need to visit the embassy to apply for a visa. Holidaymakers who do not stay longer than 28 days in the country can apply for their Myanmar visa online. Filling out the digital application form takes no more than a few minutes, and the visa is sent by email within 7 days on average. Travellers do not have to present their passport or go to the counter in person. After approval of the application, they must print out their visa and take it with them on their trip.

Only travellers who do not meet the requirements of the electronic Myanmar visa should apply for their visa at the embassy. This applies to people who are not travelling for tourism but for other purposes, people who do not have a regular passport, such as recognized refugees, individuals who want to stay longer than 28 days in the country or who intend to travel several times. British, Irish, Danish and Swedish tourists who do not arrive in Myanmar through the airports of Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw or Yangon or through the border posts of Kawthaung, Myawaddy, Rih Khaw Dar, Tachileik or Tamu are not entitled to use the e-visa.

You can also apply for a visa directly with the immigration service (50 USD per visa, via evisa.moip.gov.mm). However, not with our level of support. If you submit your application via e-Visa.ie, our support centre is available to you 24/7. In addition, we manually check your application and all the documents you provide before submitting it to the immigration authorities on your behalf. If we suspect any errors or omissions while doing so, we will personally contact you to ensure that your application can still be processed quickly and correctly. To use our services, you pay us 50 USD in consular fees, which we pay to the immigration service on your behalf, as well as € 32,53 in service fees as compensation for our services, including VAT. Our services have saved many travellers from major problems during their trip. Should an application be rejected despite our support and verification, we will refund the full purchase price (unless an application for a previous Myanmar visa was rejected for the same traveller).
