On 22 February, the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETAA) newsletter announced that the cost of visas on arrival will soon be increased.

What does the ETAA newsletter say?

In its brief newsletter of 22 February 2026, the ETAA informed its members that the price of visas on arrival would increase by EUR 4.25 as of 1 March. The Egyptian government has not yet officially confirmed this price increase.

What is the ETAA?

The Egyptian Tourism Association (ETAA) represents travel organisations, tour operators and travel agents operating in Egypt. The ETAA promotes the interests of the travel industry and acts as a point of contact with the Egyptian government. The ETAA also keeps its members informed of policy changes.

Reasons for the price increase

The Egyptian government may be attempting to increase government revenue. In addition, rising operational costs may also be passed on to travellers. The weak performance of the Egyptian pound is also a possible reason for the price increase.

The e-visa price remains unchanged

If you are planning to travel to Egypt soon for a holiday or to visit friends and family, you are advised to use the Egypt e-visa. With an e-visa, you avoid long queues at the visa desk after arriving at the airport in Egypt and can travel directly to your accommodation. In addition, you will know before departure that you are allowed to enter the country.

At e-Visa.ie you can easily apply for the Egypt e-Visa in English. After completing a short form, all you need to do is provide a photo of your passport. Once the application has been submitted, your e-visa will be approved within 11 days on average. If you need your Egypt e-visa urgently, you can submit an urgent application. Urgent applications are approved within 5 days on average.

Both single-entry and multiple-entry e-visas are available. The single-entry e-visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue and allows you to stay in Egypt for up to 30 consecutive days. The e-visa for multiple trips to Egypt (multiple-entry visa) is valid for 180 days. With this e-visa, you may enter the country an unlimited number of times within the period of validity. The maximum length of stay per visit is also 30 days with this visa. For more information, check the pages about the validity and the requirements of the visa.

e-Visa.ie is a commercial and professional visa agency, and supports travellers in obtaining, among others, the Egypt visa. e-Visa.ie is an official partner of the International Air Transport Association, IATA, with membership number 57231226, acts as an intermediary, is no law firm, nor does it employ lawyers, does not provide legal advice, and is in no way part of any government. You can also apply for a visa directly with the immigration service (25 USD per visa, via visa2egypt.gov.eg). However, not with our level of support. If you submit your application via e-Visa.ie, our support centre is available to you 24/7. In addition, we manually check your application and all the documents you provide before submitting it to the immigration authorities on your behalf. If we suspect any errors or omissions while doing so, we will personally contact you to ensure that your application can still be processed quickly and correctly. To use our services, you pay us 25 USD in consular fees, which we pay to the immigration service on your behalf, as well as € 33,31 in service fees as compensation for our services, including VAT. Our services have saved many travellers from major problems during their trip. Should an application be rejected despite our support and verification, we will refund the full purchase price (unless an application for a previous Egypt visa was rejected for the same traveller).
