E-visa for India
Nowadays, travellers rarely need a paper visa for a trip to India, but can instead apply for the electronic visa: the ETA India. The visa can easily be applied for online, as long as all the requirements are met. There are different types of the e-visa, each with a slightly different validity period. Once granted, the visa can be used for the travel purpose selected on the application form. The ETA is also called the e-Tourist visa or the e-Business visa, depending on the selected travel purpose.

Lately, there has been an increase in number of cases in which the Indian immigration services ask for additional information to process an online application. To prevent your application from being rejected automatically, it is essential that you provide this information as soon as possible. Furthermore, submitting the required information on time will help prevent your visa application from suffering a delay.
Provide information on time
In case you are contacted about having to provide some additional information regarding your submitted visa application, it is important you provide e-Visa.ie with this information as soon as possible. Preferably within 12 hours of when the notification was sent to you. Do not postpone sending the required information, but do so immediately.
If you do not respond on time, or send the correct data or documents, your application is likely to be rejected automatically. In such a case, the following message will appear on your personal statuspage: “No/wrong response to our e-mail within 48 hours”.
The data or documents it may concern
When the Indian immigration services ask you for additional information or documents, they require these to successfully process your application. It is possible that it concerns documents or information that you have already submitted, in which case you must submit them again. You may be asked about the following data or documents:
- a passport scan;
- a passport photo;
- a specification of the reason of your visit and an itinerary with the places in India you and your potential travel companions plan on visiting;
- a different phone number of the contact person who invited you to India (which may be necessary in case the contact person couldn’t be reached with the previously provided phone number);
- one or multiple travel companion’s personal data and/or your collective itinerary;
- information on your scheduled return flight from India;
- information on your current and previous employment (including function titles) and the address, phone number and e-mail address of your employer.
In addition to the aforementioned information, you may also be asked the following:
- information concerning your last departure from India, including the date, location (borderpassage, port or airport) and your flight data (if applicable);
- evidence of your last departure from India in the form of a passport scan of the page that holds the departure stamp;
- extra information concerning your planned activities in India (this might be required if you are planning on attending a conference in the country);
- A business invitation letter from the Indian company (in case of a business trip).
