In order to fly to Cambodia, British and Irish tourists need a Cambodia visa. To apply for such a visa, applicants have to meet all of the requirements set by the government of Cambodia. One of these requirements is that you arrive at one of the permitted entry locations.

There are only a limited number of locations where tourists can enter Cambodia. This is generally the case at international airports and at border crossings. These locations are strictly monitored. This means that it is not possible to enter Cambodia at any other place than the designated locations. Leaving Cambodia can be done virtually anywhere, as long as you pass the border control.

Entry locations into Cambodia

A Cambodia visa comes with fairly strict requirements. One of the requirements is that you have to arrive at one of the destinations designated by the Cambodian government. These are the so-called entry locations. It is not allowed to arrive at any other location than the designated ones. The Cambodia visa is not valid at other locations.

So make sure you are well informed beforehand. When booking a flight ticket, it is advised to book a ticket to one of the following destinations: Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville (Preah Sihanouk). These are the airports which have been designated as entry locations by Cambodia.

Furthermore, there are a number of border locations where people with a valid Cambodia visa can enter the country. These are the border crossings with Thailand (Cham Yeam [Koh Kong] and Poi Pet [Banteay Meanchey]), Vietnam (Svay Rieng) and the border with Laos (Tropaeng Kreal [Stung Treng]). Check the entry location carefully before departure. You are only allowed to enter the country with a Cambodia e-visa at these locations.

Exit locations out of Cambodia

In Cambodia, travellers are strictly checked for their compliance with the requirements of the visa. That is why the entry locations have been included as a requirement for usage of the visa. The requirements surrounding leaving Cambodia are a lot less strict compared to entering the country.

It is permitted to leave Cambodia at any point in the country, provided a border post is stationed there. This is the case at virtually all airports and border crossings. which means that travellers do not need to go to one of the separate entry locations in order to leave the country. Visa requirements Cambodia

The entry locations are a part of the visa requirements surrounding the Cambodia visa. When applying for the visa, travellers also need to keep the other requirements of the visa in mind.

Firstly, this means that travellers that submit an application for the Cambodia visa must have a valid passport. The passport is valid if it has at least six months remaining validity left at the moment of arrival in Cambodia. The traveller must travel with the same passport which they used when applying for the visa. This is because on arrival in Cambodia, a check takes place. During it, the authorities will also look at the passport number. That is why it is important that the passport number matches the number filled in on the application form. So write it down carefully.

If the passport expires earlier, the traveller does not meet the passport requirements. In that case, first apply for a new passport at the passport office. An emergency passport is not required. These rules also apply to children travelling along: they each need to possess their own passports and Cambodian visas. For people travelling as a family, a group application can be submitted. This way, you can avoid having to fill in all of the information several times over.

Applying for the Cambodia visa

As long as you comply with the requirements of the Cambodia visa, applying for the visa is simple. The total stay in Cambodia cannot last longer than 30 days, the entire trip must take place during the validity duration of the visa and travellers must comply with the entry locations rule. It is not necessary to book a flight ticket or place to stay in advance, but the application form must include the address of the first accommodation in Cambodia.

Applying for a Cambodia visa can be done per person or as a group. In all cases, the costs are € 64,95 per person. This price also applies to children. When applying, a passport photo and a scan of the passport must be included. Applying can be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Forgot to apply for a visa? Make use of the urgent procedure. A surcharge of € 17,50 applies for this. An application is then in most cases approved within 24 hours. Take note: this is not a guarantee. Apply for the Cambodia visa on time.
